Alexander Hamilton and James Madison worked together to make and defend the Electoral College system in the U.S. Constitution, and they did it together. People are in charge of the process. When this happens, it stops presidents from being able to control elections, even when they want to run for reelection again. There are a lot of experts who talk about why we have the Electoral College, what it does, and what might happen if we get rid of it.
