Amistad

Back in 1839, the slave ship Amistad set sail to America from Cuba. Throughout the lengthy trip, Cinque leads the slaves in an uprising that is unprecedented. They are held captive in Connecticut, and their discharge becomes the subject of argument. Freed slave Theodore Joadson wants Cinque and the others exonerated and recruits his case to be helped by property lawyer Roger Baldwin. John Quincy Adams becomes an ally.
